What: Pack Campfire and Campout
Where: Hygiene United Methodist Church
When: Friday, April 22 (See times below)
Uniforms: Scouts can come in their uniforms or pack T-shirts, or anything comfortable for the campfire and campout.
Monthly Theme: Cheerful - A Scout looks for the bright side of life. He cheerfully does tasks that come his way. He tries to make others happy.
All scouts and their families are invited to our campfire. It will be a great way to practice our theme for the month of being Cheerful scouts. There will be some group songs and stunts prepared. Dens can share something, and individual scouts, leaders, and parents can also bring jokes, songs, stories, etc., to share. Let me know if you or your scout have something to share so I can make sure we include you in the campfire program.
All but our youngest scouts have a requirement to participate in a family, den, or pack overnight event, and this campout will be a great way to meet that requirement if your scout hasn't done that yet. If the weather cooperates, we should have the ability to allow any family that wants to join in the campout. If we have to move inside for the campout due to threatening weather, we'll need to prioritize the scouts who need the overnighter to meet a requirement. Each scout staying overnight must have a parent stay with them and a tent that accommodates the parent and scout. We'll have convenient access to the bathrooms in the church fellowship building during the campout.
If you want to participate in the overnighter, we need you to RSVP to paul@longmontpack673.org by Wednesday April 20. Please send me the names of the scout and parent staying overnight, and let me know whether this event is needed to meet a rank advancement requirement for your scout. Each parent and scout staying overnight will need a health form on file and need to turn in a signed consent form. We'll bring the health forms the pack already has, as well as some blank forms and the simple consent forms, also.
Schedule:
Friday
5:30-6:45 PM - Arrival and tent setup for any families registered to stay overnight.
6:45-7:00 PM - Arrival for those just joining the campfire; fire setup and gathering.
7:00-7:45 PM - Campfire fun: jokes, skits, songs, stories, stunts
7:45-8:15 PM - S'mores, enjoy the campfire, say goodnight to those not staying overnight
8:15-9:30 PM - Parent-supervised fun, prepare for sleep, retire to tents
9:30 PM - All quiet
Saturday
Morning - Breakfast (bring your own if desired), break camp and head home
9:00 AM - Camp closes
For the Campfire Bring:
Flashlight
Seating (camp chair, lawn chair) for scouts and family members. Scouts will sit by dens close to the fire ring with families surrounding the scouts.
Depending on the weather forecast, you may want a blanket or other way to keep warm during the program.
Joke, poem, or story to share, or a favorite song to teach the group. If you let me know in advance, I'll make sure you're on the program.
For the Campout Bring:
Tent
Sleeping bags, mats, cots, etc.
Change of clothes, toiletries, etc.
No-cook breakfast items as desired
